Cuttlebug Be Inspired # 19

Well, silly me missed challenge # 18. Guess I was too occupied reading "Twilight" and "New Moon". And by the way, if you haven't you totally need to. I consider myself a pretty big scrappy addict, and when something can pull me away from that, well, it has to be good. LOL...ok off my Twilight saga, Our challenge at hand this week was emboss acetate. This was so much fun for me that I got carried away and made three different cards because I've never tried anything in my bug except paper--I just couldn't stop playing. So here is my favorite of the three I did. This picture doesn't do it justice but something is wrong with my Pentax K100D, I don't know what I did to it...DH is going to kill me...

So , I embossed the acetate flower frame using the Textile folder, and then I also embossed the center of the flower with Swiss Dots. You can't tell , but when you open the card the flower underneath says Spring has sprung, ( and it's on pop up dots). I inked the edges with some purple Studio g pigment ink. If I get a chance I'll post another picture of the inside of the card but here the front for now...

Thanks for stopping in and taking a look!!

Kerri :)

WOW...am I behind

I can't believe I forgot to post all my work from the Red Hot Crop at Just Scrappin'. So, I'll give ya a brief description of what challenge everything was for.

This 1st card for was for Karen B's Challenge Red Hot Card Challenge-- requirement were we had a sketch to follow as well as main color to be yellow ( and no pink), no Valentine Cards, and to use a quote no generic quote like HAppy Birthday, Thanks, Thinking of You...My quote is on the stamped flower and it says April Showers Always Brings May Flowers

This card was for Kelly's Puzzled Challenge...you had to use a puzzle piece on your card. I made my my own puzzle pieces... I traced some puzzle pieces on old cereal boxes. Then I traced a hear shaped over the traced pieces. I cut the heart out first, then I cut pieces apart where I wanted. I have to admit I had Janis on my media player when this idea popped into my head.

This was also another one of Kelly's challenges. It was a Becky Fleck Page Maps card sketch with a twist of you had to use the colors orange or purple in it.

This one here was my favorite from the weekend crop. This was dear Ziggy's challenge (she always comes up with a real thinker).

"Your challenge is to scrapbook a Book - Movie (or even a Movie to Book) that you saw and Loved or even Hated. For example I Loved the book The Eagle Has Landed by Jack Higgins but hated the movie. I loved Matilda by Rhold Dahl and the Movie was extremely close.

Coraline is about a girl who goes to another world where everything seems better but everyone has button eyes. The movie is completly handmade (and I mean completely! down to the nose hairs!) it is stop-motion animation and filmed in 3 D)

So here are the challenge requirements:

You must have journaling

at least 1 picture

You must have buttons

You must have dimension

something handmade "

I put a lot of time into this LO... first I printed off a cover of the book in B&W. Then I inked it up...playing with ink on photo paper is a lot of fun but you have to work quick because the ink dries up and you can't really blend it. My Title Some Pig was my handmade item...it's thread that I stickled. Also the spider wed is one of my Cuttlebug embossing folders. I really had a lot of fun with this one as you can see, and tried to put those extra touches on it!

This was Carol's " Shot Through The Heart" Challenge and no, it had nothing to do with the Bon Jovi song ( even though we were all singing it when we read the challenge-- Ziggy even posted a youtube video of the song--gotta love it). So, are challenge was we had to use arrows and wings on our LO. I took the easy way out with My Mind's Eye papers and punch put and used the cupid and the blue paper has arrows on it to. This is me and the DH when I was in my BFF's wedding. This LO also did double duty for me too because I used it as my monthly challenge at JS where we had to create a LO with no title and let the pics do the talking.

Here's another double duty LO. I combined Sandy's Scraplift Challenge and Michelle's Quote Challenge into one. For Sandy Challenge we had to pick one of three LO's of members on our board to scrap lift ( I picked Karen B to scraplift) and Michelle quote Challenge was to use the quote " Live well, laugh often, love much". I had this pic from New Years's Eve 2007 that I thought wouldn't it be cute to make the quote our family New Year's Resolution for 2008.

This was challenge by the ever-so-crafty Miss Aymee called "Feel Me Up" Challenge ( gotta love that title right. She gave us a sketch but the "feel" part of the challenge was we had to use fabric on our LO. My fabric is the red with circles in the top left and right next to the pic, also I used fiber to wrap around the pic. All the black waves around the border, and the swirls coming out from the material, I stamped on.

And this was a tag challenge that Ziggy hosted called "Orange Ya Glad" where we had a pagemaps tag sketch plus we had to use the color orange/lime green.

And finally, here was the challenge that I hosted for everyone.

Mini Valentine Book Challenge:

The challenge at hand, is to crop from your heart a special Valentine Book for that special someone in your life (DH, signifcant other, parent, child, whomever). Now for the conditions:

1. Your mini book must only be made from cardstock ( no chipboard, or photo mat board please)2. the album must be folded at least twice

3. You must use at least 2 photos in the book

4. Must use ribbon to tie it closed

Here's my example of the challenge

front cover:

opened up:
page 2 flipped up:

page flipped out:

back cover:

Wow, that was a lot, huh? Did you actually read it all!! LOL!!! Thanks for looking and have a scrappy day!

Monthly Sketch Challenge at JS

Here's my monthly sketch challenge at Just Scrappin'....just did this last night at my monthly crop with all the ladies ( the only thing I mananged to accomplish there--hehehe!!) It was social night this week none of us were in the creative mood, but I did come home with one done to say hey I was scrapping!

here's my take... all papers and stickers are Creative Memories. The title I stamped. I was trying to blend inks to get a more purple pink like the paper, but I wasn't achieving the color I wanted. However, one of the ladies did have a journaling pen that matched pretty much perfect that I outlined it with.

Cuttlebug Be Inspired #17 -- LOVE

This week's Cuttlebug Challenge was to create something to do with LOVE. My project I did was a LO that I used for a sketch challenge that was going on at Just Scrappin' for our mini crop. This LO was all about the "love" of my first and only dog- Buffy (miss you moosh face). And yep, that's a pic of me when I was like 13 years old. Not sure if you can really see it but my embossing is on the letters ( I used Swiss Dots) and the heart frames ( I used Flowers). I had a lot of fun doing this LO --it brought back some great childhood memories.

Hopefully, I will get a chance tonight to post all my other work from the super fun crop!! IT was a lot of great fun, and a lot of great prizes won, too!! If your not a member there make sure you hop on over and join us! Thanks for stopping in and have a "scrap-happy" Tuesday!!

Saturday One Hour LO Challenge

Lots of great croppin' fun going on over at Just Scrappin' with our Red Hot Crop. We had a 1 hour LO challenge last night and it was a blast-gotta love the rush! Here was our sketch:

Here's my take:

Nothing fancy, just had these pics and paper that I 've been wanting to use up. I did some inking around the crown, my letters are stamped, added some bling, and the matting behind the 5 x 7 photo I used my Fiskars lace border punch.

Make sure you check back later I'll be posting all my cropping stuff! Thanks for stopping in!

Have a scrappy day!

TGIF!!!!

Ok, I'm tired of sick kids right now, the little ones have had the flu all week, Layton started Wednesday night, and Cory last night. And to top it all off, we go the doctor this am and we got ear infections on top of the flu bug! I ready for Spring, to open the windows and let in some fresh air. This is really killing me. So, I'm bummed with everyone being sick, I don't get to go to my bestest friend in the whold wide world son's 4th birthday ( poor Jaedon is so disappointed) tommorow. God knows, I don't wish we have here on anyone! The only good thing I have to look forward to is the weekend crop going on online at Just Scrappin'. IT starts tonight at 6pm and runs through Sunday, 8th. There are 10 or 11 challenges posted from different ladies on the board ( including my self who is hosting a mini Valentine Book Challenge), a 1 hour LO contest happening tomorrow at 8:00 pm Eastern time(7:00pm Central, 5:00pm Pacific), and I think there might be a few games going on too!! So, make sure you drop in and join in on our challenges!! It's going to be a blast!! Here's the link:

Cuttlebug Be Inspired Challenege #16

A new week, a new challenge! This week's challenge was to add distressing as part of textures. This was so much-- I love distressing things playing with ink, misting with water, crinkling, using scissors to shave edges, etc ( you get the point). Something about changing some new and trying to make it look old, I just love to do! This was a really simple card I made.

Material list:
Red, White, and Black card stock
Holiday Inspirations red ribbion
Black tulle
Jet Black StazOn Ink
Black Rubber Stampede Ink
Cuttlebug folders use:
Script embossing folder, Stamp die and "Love Stamp" embossing folder

First, cut the red card stock to the size you want. Distress all around the edges of the red card stock with Heidi Swapp distressing tool ( or use some scissors --be very careful not cut cut yourself though). I then made my heart (I just traced my Creative Memories Heart Pattern) on the red card stock. Next, I used a tutorial that the ever so crafty Pinky Hobbs has on her blog ( here's the link to it if you want to check it out http://blueyecicle.blogspot.com/2008/02/exploding-heart-picture-tutorial.html ) for an exploding heart. I inked up the rolls of the heart with my black StazOn inkpad, set it aside. Then, I cut my white card stock and ran it through the Cuttlebug "Script" embossing folder. I Crinkled, flattened, and then inked up the embossing. Misted with water and dried with a hair dryer). Set that piece aside. I then, cut my stamp from a piece of red cardstock, and ran that through the cuttlebug love stamp folder. I used a q-tip and dabbed it into my ink pad then rubbed over the embossing. Finally, fold black card stock to make a 5 1/2 x 7 1/2 card, and assembled the rest of the peice working from the bottom up ( ribbon, white, card stock, red exploding heart, black tulle, and love stamp).

Hope you like the card!! Give it a try or try making an exploding heart they are a lot of fun!!

Thanks for looking and have a scrappy day!!

I Was Tagged..............TWICE!!!

Ok, I've never been tagged before and I get tagged twice in one day! Goodness me! So who tagged me... yeah, the genius creator of Page Maps Becky Fleck ( Becky, love your maps - they are the best!) and Andrea, whom I know from the Cuttlebug board. So, the tag was go where you store your photos ( mine are all on disc because I just got a new computer and dumped them all from the hard drive), pick the 6th folder ( I picked the my 6th disc then picked the 6th folder on the disc), pick the 6th picture, post on your blog and tell about it. Super easy!

My 6th folder on my disc was from a day of fishing down the at the catch and release lake, Little Flipper Lake, about a half a mile from my house. We walk to it when we do go fishing. This is a picture of my oldest son, Layton, who is 9 with a small bass that he caught and was holding. Can you see the worm in the fish's mouth--yuck right! Oh, and look at my son's disgusting hands -- fish slime and worm guts all over them! I'm sure you really wanted the details, right? LOL! It was a fun day of fishing that day though and I think we caught 9 fish that day. By the way, guess who gets to take the fish off the hooks and put them back in the water--me!

The following ladies, you've been tagged!! These are all scrappy friends and places I get inspiration from! Can't wait to see what you ladies post!
Remember the rules are 6th folder, 6th picture, post on your blog, and tag 6 more!!

Cuttlebug Be Inspired Challenge #15

This week's Cuttlebug Be Inspired challenge was to use this sketch created by Becky Fleck, the author of Page Maps. I had a lot of fun doing this challenge because I am so in love with page maps-- I am a sketch girl ( love 'em!!!) -- and use them all the time when creating. Got the site on my blog roll and a binder filled with each month's sketches going back to 2006 . Here's the sketch:

Now here's my intrepretation of it. I use my cricut to cut the flourishes, the butterflies and flowers were cut and embossed on my bug. I just got the set of the 4 flower dies and the butterfly die & embossing set yesterday in the mail and couldn't wait to try it out! I love them!! Also, just got the stamp out if the $1.00 bargain bin at Joann's last week and was itching to use it as well!!

Just another view so you can see how I doubled up on the butterflies to make it a little 3-D. I just cut the antenna off the top layer and creased each wing at the body.

Thanks for stopping in and good luck to all those who enter this week's challenge!

Great Crop On Saturday!!

I had a lot of fun with the ladies and learned a bunch more new tricks which is always great. I didn't get as much accomplished as I would have liked to, but it was about having fun, being with the gals, being able to have adult conversation, and eating a meal that was actually hot--all you mothers can appreciate that! LOL! Here is what I did get accomplished, and what I did I loved so that all that matters right!

This is Delaney at Splash Lagoon this past summer cuttin it up on the DDR ( Dance Dance Revolution machine in the arcade there. I cut all the letters and arrows out on the cricut. The leter I inked around the edges and misted with water to give it them that blended effect.

Journaling read:" Wow, look at those moves on the DDR machine in the arcade at Splash Lagoon! You go girl!"

Picture is from our summer trip to the Pittsburgh Zoo in June 2008. I think Ihave have all the zoo animals scrapped now to put our zoo book together! YEAH!! The bananas I drew and cut out then just inked 'em up!

Here is a pic of each page individually. I use one of the December 2008 Page Map Sketches to do this 2 page spread and I just love how it came out. Flourishes were cut on the cricut as well as the 2008, and a little stickles for touch on flowers and around the numbers.

Thanks for stopping by and checking them out. I can't post the other project I started because it's for my DH for his Valentine's Day present, but I finished it today, took pics, and will post after I give it to him! I don't think he checks my blog because I show him everything I scrap, but ya never know when he might pop in!

Have a scrappy Monday- and I'll be back to post later in the week!

BasicGrey's Bitter *Sweet* Sketch Challenge

This LO is my creation for the BasicGrey's bitter *sweet* sketch contest that is going on at the Pagemap Blog. Another one of Becky Fleck's great sketches to inspire plus a theme that had to do with something sweet, whether that be your sweetheart, a sweet tooth favorite, or as Becky put it on the blog the boy from the gym with the sweet....LOL!! My "sweetness" is my darling daughter, Delaney, she is ever so precious and sweet, and of course a total mommy's girl! When I see these pictures of her reaching up to the leaves falling they remind me just how sweet life is.
Here's the sketch....

And here's my take....

The journaling reads " ~Fall 08~ How sweet life is to be this young and carefree, and to not have a single worry in the world. To whirl and twirl with the leaves; how sweet it is!"

The lucky winner will receive a collection pack of BasicGrey's new Bittersweet papers (including alphas and element stickers), plus coordinating glazed brads, buttons and olio rubs. Wish me luck and thanks for looking!!

Have a scrappy day!

Cuttlebug Challenge #14

Welcome Monday...kids didn't have school here today because of a teacher inservice day, so I decided after some playtime oustide in the the nearly 2 feet of snow we have total now, that is was mom's quiet time. I pulled out my "bug" and embossing folder and tried to decide which was my favorite for this weeks challenge. That is a very tough decision! I haven't had a lot of time to experiment with them, so I went with two that I just had to have and could not do without-- Swiss Dots and Script. These two were my fav just from the looks of them that I decided, when ordering, I would probably use the most.

Here some info on what I used:

CB folders: Swiss Dots and Script

Paper used: DCWV brown textured cardstock, scrap journaling paper, and K&C Company's Life's Journey Stamp Collage Embossed Paper ( oh, I love this paper I just got--it has 42 different little stamps on them and are they ever so cute)

Ink: Stampede brown ink pad

Embellies: Chipboard heart, brown hemming lace, and ivory sheer ribbon

Thanks for stopping by and looking! Have a great week and hopefully I will have a lot more to post this week!! Got my monthly crop on Wednesday, a one-hour LO Contest, and an all day crop on coming up! Time for me--just what the doctor ordered!! LOL!
