December Card Challenge At Just Scrappin

This is going to be a quick post...just finished this up a bit ago and wanted to post it. This is December's card sketch challenge on Just Scrappin. On top of using the sketch below you could not make a Christmas Card. I'm going to be using this for a girl's night out when one of my friends comes to visit.

here's the sketch

here's my take....

Scrappin my way into Tuesday!

It's the start of a new day and I started it off right with some scrappin. Just finished up a LO for a Challenge on Just Scrappin. It is December's Monthly Challenge. For this LO we had to use the theme "All I Want for Christmas" and do a layered look to it. So, here's my take on it.
The journaling reads: " If I could have anything I wanted for Christmas, all I would ask for is for you to be with us again...to see your 3 great-grandchildren and how much of a joy they are. Miss you Gram!"

Also, I forgot to post this one. This is December's Monthly Sketch Challenge. Pretty straight forward, not really anything diferent. from the sketch on this one. I guess I wasn't feeling inventive when I did this one ( I don't remember--LOL!).
here's the sketch....
and here's my take..........

Sorry for the bad pics ( using the old camera)

I still have a card challenge I am going to do as well!! Gotta get it finished! On a side note--just ordered the rest of Christmas present with the money my MIL gave me for Christmas. I ordered two new cricut carts! Yeah!! I can't wait to get them. I ordered Stretch Your Imagination and Paper Dolls. I guess I'll have to wait on The Storybook Cart, Home Accents, Disney Fairies, and Disney Cars, maybe I'll get lucky for my birthday! Have a Scrappy Day!

It Was A Merry Christmas!!

It was a very merry Christmas for all of us here. I pulled an all nighter Christmas Eve. I was finishing making gifts, wrapping presents, and getting things ready to have all of the family at the house that I never made it to bed until 7:17am Christmas morning. Guess what time the kids gots up? 7:27am, yep, a whole 10 minutes of sleep. I haven't pulled an all nighter like that since college, and boy, it isn't as easy as it use to be, LOL!! You know in all my craziness in trying to finish making gifts, I forgot to take pics of everything I made so I could post them. I could kick myself in the butt especially since I forgot to take pics the wedding word album I made for my sister, Angela. It turned out so beautiful --I am so proud of it! The next time I go to her house I'm gonna take my camera so I can take a pic of it and post it on here.

So, Santa was very good to everyone. Layton got his slot car track, Jaedon got his crane and cement mixer, and Delaney got her Cinderella talking kitchen. I got my cricut early for Chirstmas, but my mom surprised me and got me the Cuttlebug which I can't wait to bust open the box and play with it too ( of course, I gotta wait until the embossing folders I ordered with the gift card she gave me come this week). I've got lots of new toys to play with starting out the new year and I'm excited to get started! Hope everyone else had a wonderful as a Christmas as I did!!

Snow Peeps!

I got these patterns from a fellow scrapper-- thanks Bonnie :-)-- on Start a Scrapbook and they are just wonderful. They are a bit of a pain in the butt to cut out because of all the small pieces, but they are well worth the finished product. I made three of these for gifts for my kids' godmothers for Christmas. I also used this for my monthly contest at Just Scrappin. Our contest rule for this month were to use snowflakes and some sort of "bling"--do you think I have enough stickles on these for my bling? LOL!!
Haven't really done any "joy" scrapping, just been busy working on making ornaments and other gifts for Christmas. But, I will post all the pics after Christmas.
Oh, and here's a poem that a fellow scrappy friend posted- thanks A :-). I was laughing my butt off after reading it!! So stinkin cute!
Twas' the night before Christmas, I'm glued to the tree.
I'm wondering what Santa brought just for me.
Could it be cardstock or chipboard or lace?
Or a Cricut, I said with a smile on my face.
And that's when I hear him, "Hi Santa," I said.
"You know...good little girls should be in their beds."
"I know I should Santa, and now I've got caught,
But I was just so excited To see what you brought."
"Well, let's take a look in this room where you work.
He shook his head quickly, and left with a jerk.
I heard him exclaim as he put it in gear,
"You've got enough crap, I'll see you next year."

Need To Add Some Magic to Christmas Eve?

So for those of you who want to add a little "magic" and "believing" to Christmas Eve here's a little something that I started doing with my kids when Layton was in kindergarten. I got this idea from my mother, who got it from a friend, etc... So what is it you are asking? It's Reindeer Food!!

Here's the instructions to make Reindeer Food:

Plastic sandwich bag
1/4 cup of oatmeal ( quick oats don't buy the good stuff here's a time to use generic brands)
1/2 Tablespoon of glitter ( color of choice-- I do a different color every year or whatever I have on hand)
Dump oats and glitter into the bag, seal, shake and voila...Reindeer food !

Here a little poem that I type up and put a tag on the bag too!

Make a wish and close your eyes tight.
Then sprinkle on your lawn at night.
As Santa's reindeer fly and roam,
This food will guide them to your home.

Instructions for use:
1. Wait until Christmas Eve!
2. Open bag and sprinkle on lawn!
3. Hop into bed!
4. Shh...Listen for Santa and reindeer!
5. Close your eyes tight and watch sugar plums dance!

This is so much fun to watch the kids outside in their pj's dumping their baggies across the lawn. And if you live in a highly deer populated area like I do, your oatmeal will be gone in the morning, deer prints will be left in the snow ( if you have it), and the kids go crazy!!

Here's a pic of my baggy that I made...I'm giving these out for Jaedon's pre-school class tomorrow at his class party. This is something you could do for the kids in your family if you get together on Christmas Eve and have dinner and it's getting to be that time to head home, but the kids don't want too....you hand them this and watch how fast they will be in the car!

Sorry, about the bad pic, I'm using the old camera, but you get the idea!

Some Ornament Making!!

Dear Pinky on her blog posted these wonderful cute ornament. They are just the cutest dang things and so easy to make especially if you go to her blog and follow her instructions:

http://blueyecicle.blogspot.com/2008/12/tuesday.html

She has so many awesome great tips and shares all of her wonderful knowledge (she has some great RAK's every week, too!!)

So here are my ornaments......................

I did them a little bit different than what Pinky did. For the two on the outside I added an extra layer which really gave it some "pop" as I like to say. For those two I first started out with a 4 inch circle which I glued all my pieces too ( it kept sinking in when I went to glue the other layer on top). The bottom layer is 10 - 2 inch squares. The top layer is 10 1 1/2 inch squares. And, Like I said pop over to Pinky's blog for the full instructions with pics and all!! Have fun making these--I sure did!! Thanks again Cristal!!

Well, back to some presents making...I'm working on 3 snow peep frames for gifts!! I'll post pics when I'm done!

Gonna Get My Scrappin' Goove On Tonight and Tomorrow!

I don't have any pics with this post yet, but hopefully will have things to add later. Tonight we have short-noticed 1 hour layout contest at Just Scrappin! I so L-O-V-E doing these!! They are so much fun and exciting! The rush, craziness, and sorting through the 5 million ideas going through you head so quickly is just a blast. We got our hints:

12 x 12 LO
3 or even 2 Landscape pictures....maybe a sequence or matching style??
2 4X6 and 1 slightly smaller maybe one you can cut down a little OR all 3 cut down a little.

Can't wait to see the sketch!
(update as of 10:18pm est)

Here's the sketch ......................

And the drum roll please.......................................tah dah!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Also, tomorrow night heading out with the ladies to work on my Christmas cards--nothing like waiting until the last minute to get them done, huh? Especially when you are making them all by hand! Yep, I am crazy, but that's how it is when you love crafting!

Thanks for stopping in, and make sure you stop back to see what I come up with!

Holiday Fun

Here's that recipe as promised for the Cinnamon Dough Ornaments. These are super cute and fun for the kids!

2 Cups of Flour
1 Cup of Salt
5 Teaspoons of Cinnamon
3/4 to 1 Cup of Water

Combine dry ingredients in a bowl. Stir in water gradually to make dough ( Tip: if it sticks to your hand--add more flour, if it crumbles add water). Knead for 5 - 10 minutes until smooth. Refrigerate for 30 minutes. Roll out dough to desired thickness from 1/4 to 3/4 inches. ( Note: the thicker the dough the longer the ornaments will take to bake)

Use Cookie cutters to create your shapes. Use a straw to make a hole for your ribbon so you can hang your ornament.

Bake at 325 degrees for 45 minutes to 1 hour
Time will vary depending on thickness, bake until dry.

Let cool completely before you decorate. Paint with acrylic paints. Glue on fun eyes, buttons, ribbon, glitter, or any accessory you would like. Coat with acrylic varnish when everything is dry ( this is optional but it makes the paint nice and shiny)

These ornaments are absolutely great fun for the kids and smell great for along time. I made them 4 years ago with my oldest son Layton, and and they still smell. And when the smell starts to fade you can wet the back a bit with a damp cloth then take the hair dryer to it.

And here's another cute idea for you. I made these mini pies for a holiday bake sale for my son's school. We have a Holiday Sing- A- Long and charity drive for the Make-A-Wish Foundation which is a great cause. I made three different types of pies Apple, Pumpkin, and Lemon Meringue . I made my own crust, which is really the work of this project and rolling it to fit in these little pie pans ( pie pans are the mini pot pie pans you can buy in the grocery stores in a pack of 8) . And I just made a filling for each type ( there would be enough filling to fill 2 -9 inch pie pans or 10 mini pies). On the apple pies I just painted on them an apple with a mixture of an egg yolk and red food coloring--and a little green stem. The The pumkin and lemon ones I just made with some card stock a small pumpkin and lemon to put on the plastic wrap. I do have lids for the lemon pies that fit on the mini pie pans and I ordered those off line and got them real cheap for a pack of 50 from some kitchen store. ...I can't recall the name right now, but I will edit the post when I find it...Too finish making them all pretty, I just cut a strip of material and tied a cinnamon stick to the apple and pumpkins ones. Cute and fairly easy and they are hits at bake sales because some people don't like to buy a whole pie and they can be priced a little more reasonably then a whole pie would be!

So, there are my baking secrets for the week, now I need to get my scrapping one going again here! Thanks for stopping in and hope you enjoy!

Sick and Tired!!

Well, I have to adimit I've not done any scrapping in over a week...everyone, but Layton, has been sick in this house since Tuesday before Thanksgiving I, of course, am still not better. But, even though we were sick, we still had a very nice Thanksgiving. My dear mother put together a wonderful meal for 25 people, God love her! But, not only did she do that, she kept my kids over night at her house both Thanksgiving day and Friday. Cory and I went shopping, sick and all, on Friday morning and got all our shopping done for the kids! We got some some really great deals!! It feels great to have that done. Now, I need to finish making the gifts that I planned. I have a lot going on so, I'm gonna have to start pulling some late nights!

Oh, I know what else...we got our Christmas tree up and the kids are in their glory. Now I just need a couple more days to let Delaney's boo boo on her nose heal up so I can take their pic and get the Christmas cards made! I don't have any pics to post yet, but I'm going post a recipe of some cute cinnamon dough ornaments the kids and I made on Sunday. Super easy, and super cute! We just have to finish painting the ornaments--and they smell so great, too!!
Hope everyone has a Happy Tuesday!!

What have I been scrappin?

Well, not too much but here's what I did get done. All of these are different challenges going on at one of my favorite places to play Pinky's Board--Just Scrappin'!! Cristal and all the gals & Stephan are fabulous!! It's always fun to play there. And even more wonderful is that Cristal and fellow Just Scrappin gal Cherrie both recently made the design team for Treasured Scrapping. Congrats to both of them and I cannot wait to see what they do!! But, now off to see what I've done!

First here is the monthly sketch challenge for Just Scrappin....

And here's my creation....pretty much just stickin to the sketch on this one with one small twist my big leaf is my journaling box!! All of my papers are from DCWV Fall Stack and DCWV Fall cardstock stack. What can I say I love DCWV papers!! Such a wonderful variety and the all mix and match so well!!
Next one here is the Monthly Contest. All we had to do was create any kind of circle layout. I used my threading water punch to go around the edge of the entire circle..it was a pain and I wasn't sure if I was even going to be able to make it work, but it did...so, when I get a chance I will post a little tutorial on here how I did it! I actually amazed myself!!

This one here was our November Challenge. Our Challenge was to create a sign. Now, most of the ladies on the board created their own scrap room sign and are very awesome. But me. I was thinking how can I get a Christmas present made with this...so this is actually going to be for boys school teachers. I am going to make two more for Jaedon's pre-school teachers. I thought these were the perfect little signs that they can hang in their classroom or at home..which ever they like!

And last here is the one hour sketch that I just completed tonight at Just Scrappin... I am so loving the 1 -hour LO contest--they are just too much fun and it's great to see everyone online together and how everyone's minds process the same sketch in 1 hour time!! So here's the sketch...

And here's my LO. It's not really a great pic, but that's the best I could do with only really doing it in 40 minutes because we were watching a movie with the kids and I had to hurry up and get them to bed!

Well thanks for checking in...hope everyone is ready to eat some turkey...just 4 more days!!

I Got Some Scrappy Time In!!

Yep, I squeaked it in... while everyone else is fast asleep right now I managed to get this LO done. Gotta roll with what ya get, right? This was a weekly sketch challenge on Creative Scrappers. This first picture is the sketch we had to follow/draw inspiration from...

And here is my interpretation of the sketch. The letters I cut out myself. I used left over cereal boxes to make them. Then I rubbed my olive green stampede ink pad and brown ink pad over my craft mat. I spritzed the ink with water and mixed it a little with a paint brush. Then I just dabbed the letters in the puddles here in there to try to make it look like mud splashing up. I followed it up with wiping the edges of the letters with my black ink pad. I also used the same technique for the cardstock strip behind the picture as well as the journaling circle.

Journaling reads " ~ Travel Soccer Team Fall 08~ Coach Hassan is always telling you to "win the ball". Well, in this picture you can see the determination to win it. You can also tell that your opponent took the brunt of your winning.

I think I should probably go to bed now-- the morning is already here and in a few hours the kids will be waking me up!! Hopefully they sleep in a little bit for me!

Friday is here!!

Well, it is Friday and I haven't really done too much scrappin this week!! Just a one hour LO contest at Just Scrappin and a Christmas card. I just can't get my groove on this week! It happens, right? Oh, and I did make my own sketch this week. But .....I haven't scanned it in so when I do I will post it! Now, on to what I did do!

This first picture is of the one hour layout contest at Just Scrappin. I can't find a picture of the sketch to post with it, but it's pretty much exactly like the sketch. I didn't deviate from it this time like I usually like to because the dear Delaney was not copperating and would not stay in her bed!

edited on 11-19-08...found the sketch and here it is!!

This next picture is of a Christmas card I made that is I used for two challenges on two different boards. For the first challenge at SAS dear Aymee wanted us to use a border punch for our card. Well, I didn't have a border punch that I liked so I just used my snowflake punch and made a border! The other challenge was for on Pinky's blog to just do a Christmas card! And here it is....

Hope everyone has a good weekend...I'm going to be trying to get things in order in my house so, no scrappy time for me, well, maybe a sneak in something when everyone is sleeping! LOL!

Back from the weekend!

So, the wedding is over, the book has been given. Now, I just hope she liked it! It was a very beautiful wedding and a great reception. Only wish I could have stayed longer to dance it up a bit more. But had to get home to the kids and pick them up from grandma's house. I haven't done too much scrappin since the wedding because I needed a break from the paper!! It wasn't calling too me--yep, I am crazy--I need a calling from the paper in order to scrap or some other kind of motivation like a contest! But here is what I did do....

Forgot to post this...this is the wedding card that I made to go with the album. And, I decked up the enveloped, too. The card was just a 8 X 8 sheet of card stock that I folded in half. The flower was a silk rose bud that I tore apart to just be left with petals and I added some stickles to it! The envelope was just a standard 4 1/2 x 9 1/4 security enveloped that I just added the card stock too, and printed their names on vellum. Added some burgundy ribbon going down the sides and made the nice pretty gold bow ( thanks to my mom for teaching me many years ago how to make bows when she worked in a flower shop). I forgot to take a pic of the back of the enveloped, but what I did was along the flap I cut a 2 inch strip pf burgundy cardstock, and I used my lace border punch on it to make it pretty!

Last thing here was the weekly sketch from last week on Creative Scrappers forum. They always have great sketches there! It's nothing fabulous I did but, it was another sketch that helped get another LO done from the zoo trip!

Here's the sketch...

Here's my take.....
Oh, one more thing, this just in, if you love sketches make sure you stop in to check this out! Don't know about the rest of you, but I'm always looking for new inspiration!

History in the Making!!

I must say I am very happy with the results of the election yesterday. I went out there, did my duty as a citizen, and my voice was heard. And even though, my dear husband disagrees with my view point, democrats and republicans can conquer together--we are living proof. I still love him even though he calls me a "bleeding heart liberal" and he still loves even though I believe in the power of change.

So on to my history in the making, the book/album is finally done and what else is there left to do--back to the "challenging boards". Both of these challenges are on SAS ( advice comment #1-- tackle one forum at a time when completing challenges or you end up posting the wrong challenge on the wrong board--LOL, yep I did--good thing for the edit button on posts).

This first one here is the card challenge my dear friend Aymee gave us for a Christmas Card Challenge. I don't have a lot of buttons, and I am not one for following a sketch to a "T" --always got to add my own little twist to it ya know. We had to not only follow the sketch, but had to use non-traditional colors. This new DCWV Christmas Stack had some perfect papers for choice, but this was my fave and it was also left over from some tags I was making for Pinky at JS. Using up the left overs before going on to the new! I like how it turned out, but I did drop the black ink pad in the top right hand corner! So what, it's still cute enough!

Challenge number two here was the weekly Sketch Cass posts on SAS. It's from the new November Page Maps. Gotta love the Page Maps.

So here's the sketch....

And here's my take on the sketch...again with little added twist- "bling"- These are pics from when we went to Splash Lagoon in June.

The journaling reads, " Everyone had so much fun on the water slides "making waves". It was Jaedon's and Delaney's first time going down the slides by themselves-- you would have thought they were pros!"

Have a good day all!! Only two more days and Friday will be here! Woo hoo...bring on the weekend!

Tuesday, November 4, 2008

What a Great Weekend!!

It started out with perfect evening for Trick-or-Treating!! We had a lot of fun and the kids looked great! Actually, I think I did, too! Cory and I decided at the lat minute that we were going to dress up while taking the kids around. My own mother-in-law didn't even recognize me. Pretty funny!! So, here's a pic of the family from Halloween night! Yes, that is crazy me as the 80's rocker chick! I decided I will never go blonde--not really my color! And my dear husband was master jedi knight Obi Wan Kenobi --he carried around his silly master replica light saber that he ordered off of QVC a few years ago. What a big kid he was with it!

Moving on, I spent the day on Saturday cropping with the ladies. Had a great time.
As always, Erin hosts a great crop! Hopefully she will make the next one a 12 hour one or an all-nighter! We played two games, "The game Formerly Known as BINGO" and we were all given straws and we could not say th word "page". If you did you had to give up your straw and whoever had the most would win a prize! I won the straw game and finally got the cool Creative Memories journaling templates that I wanted! Yeah me!! LOL!! So, here are some pics of the ladies cropping!

Cropping away the day!

Pose pretty ladies!!

Yep, I'm taking your picture--Smile!!

So what did I get done--well, I finished up making some tags for dear "Pinky" for her Fiskateers event coming up! And, I worked on the wedding album word book that I made for a gift for the wedding I'm going to this weekend. I did not finish it at the crop, but I did when I got home. So, here are some pics of the book!

And don't forget everyone to go out and vote today!! You can make the difference!!
