Transparency Challenge @ Practical Scrappers!

Our feature item to use us this week is that ever-dreading transparencies. I don't know about the rest of you, but I have a hard time using these babies!! Don't get me wrong, I LOVE them and have way too many (especially since you pay like $2.99 for each one), but I they always seem to need just the right picture and theme. Here's the main one I did for this week:

This is a pic of me and the DH at PSU on the Nittany Lion Shrine in 1997. As for things I did with this LO...
* The entire LO is covered with a 12 x 12 tranparency (I don't know the manufacture-- just remember getting it at my LSS)
* Inked my D'Vine swirls folder with brown pigment ink, carefully put my paper in the folder (making sure not to slide it around once I put it in), and ran it through my bug-- it made the perfect photo mat for this picture and the feel I was going for in LO-- the Bazzil aqua cardstock was just way to over-powering by itself so by inking the folder with the brown it helped settle it.

* I stamped the flourished in the top right hand corner with some Timber Brown StazOn ink. You need to use StazOn on transparencies otherwise your ink will smear. One more NOTE...I did use my heat gun to quickly dry the ink so I did not accidently smear it. Make sure if you use a heat gun to dry you ink on tranparencies that you do it quickly and do NOT hold the dryer in place (keep it moving) or your tranparency will begin to warp--LESSON LEARNED THE HARD WAY!!

* The flower are also cut with my Cuttlebug (the 4 set of the flower dies) and I also embossed them D'Vine Swirls.

* One more thing...I used a Sharpie to write on my tranparency. Again, for the same reason I used StazOn ink...it work smear or wipe off!

Here is another one I did that gives you other ways to use transparencies...

This was a LO I did, inspired by the poem on the LO that I wrote for my grandmother when I was 17 years old and she was battling cancer. The small pic was when I was junior in high school and she came to my induction to the National Honor Society, the large pic was at my high school graduation about 20 months later...my grandma passed away two week after I graduated. Her goal was to see one of her grandchildren graduate, and she did exactly that! Love and miss you Gram!!

Thanks for stopping in this and make sure stop by PS and join in on the challenge this week and the blog hop as well. There's still one more day left to join in the fun and win some prizes!

I used the sketch from scrap sketch, but was inspired by the title given for the challenge at Creative Twist (Get Down and Get Dirty)
Well, here's by baby girl getting down and dirty with baking Halloween cookies!!

Fall is Here!!

The leaves are turning, the air is cooler, and what better way is there to celebrate fall than to create a fall themed project! Create a card, LO, altered item, whatever your project choice; but make sure you got that fall theme going on and use your cuttlebug in some way on it. That is our challenge for you this week at The Cuttlebug Spot. Here is my fally project...I decided to alter this small picture frame that I bought at the dollar store.
The paper piercing I created myself. I saw a pattern similar to this scarecrow online for some jar craft and decided I could make my own paper piercing out of him. I think he turned out pretty cute!

How I used my bug?
Used the Argyle embossing folder on the hat
Used the Distressed Stripes folder on all the pumkins
Used my Nesties label 4 to cut and emboss the tag "The Yarus Patch"

Thanks for stopping in this week and make sure you stop on in at The Cuttlebug Spot and check out my fabulous design team sisters' creations. They always always leave me speechless with their creations. Aoh, and please join us for this challenge...Nilda always has an awesome prize in store for one random winner!

Time to Ink the Folders....

Nope not time to make the doughnuts (sorry, I have Dunkin' Doughnuts stuck in my head right now...hehe), but it is time to pull out those embossing folders and load them up with ink (NOT STAZ ON). That's the challenge this week at The Cuttlebug Spot and it's actually the very first challenge ever done on The Cuttlebug Spot. It's our 1 year anniversary and that's why Nilda has chosen for us to revisit this challenge. Celebrate the way you started out!! Also, to help us celebrate you can participate in the challenge this week if you would like .... however we want to celebrate the entire week by giving away a prize every day, Monday through Friday.
Monday's Prize is a $20.00 gift certificate to Custom Crops and 3 of the summer released embossing folders. Thank you to Custom Crops and Provo Craft for sponsoring this week

To win: simply visit Custom Crops and give us a link to an item that you would love to buy. Please spread the word about our celebration this week and make sure you come back every day to see what the new prize and new rules will be to win... it will be different each day....super easy task for such a wonderful prize!

Here's my card I made; I was feeling the cold weather with the drop in temperatures we've had at night here in northwestern PA (it got down to 38 degrees over night...brrr!)

Thanks for stopping in and please-- head to my DT sisters' blogs to check out their creations and leave them some love!! You will be inspired!!

What To Do With Those Letter Stickers...

Besides use them in a title? That's what we want to know at Practical Scrappers this week. I think all of our DT members struggled with this one, I know I sure did! I stared at packs of letter sticker and thickers for an hour and half trying to "see" objects and things out of them....my eyes were popping out of my head (which how I came up with the idea for the card...hehe). When all was said and done, I was pleased with the two projects I came up with.

Remember to stop in and check out the other DT gals work!! Everyone did a fabulous job! And please, show us what you got...inspire us to use those stickers in a crafty way!

Thanks for stopping in and happy scrappin'!

Crazy Confetti and a Scrap Fit Challenge!!

Confetti creations is what we are all about this week at The Cuttlebug Spot. So, pull out your favorite embossing folders and those scraps that you just don't know what to do with to create this weeks challenge!

For my project, I altered a pasta box--that's right recycle, recycle, recycle! My family thinks I'm nuts, but you'd be amazed at how much less garbabe you have by saving those cereal and pasta boxes all the way to those glass jars. So, this little pasta box here is going to be a gift for one of the pre-K teachers that my two littles one have. I always make halloween sugar cookies so we'll be filling it with those for her.

Here's my project:

Hope you like the project-- I had a lot of fun creating it! Please make sure you stop by The Cuttlebug Spot and check out all of my DT sisters projects they are simply fabulous. Also, Nilda is giving away a gift certificate for 15 pounds (or about $25.00 US dollars) from our UK sponsor The Craft Barn . They have the new CB folders!!

Almost forgot, I have a LO here that is for a challenge at Scrap Fit. Kelly has presented us with this workout routine:

1. use 3 patterened papers
2: use 1 solid cardstock
3: hide your journalling
4: use at least 2 photos
5: use at least 1 star in your LO
6: use at least 2 different ribbons

and here's what I came up with:

Thanks for stopping in!!

Happy Scrappin!

Always Remember....

A picture from a visit to Ellis Island in 2000...

I will always remember where I was, what I was doing on September 11, 2001. The impact that it made in my life, the innocent lives lost, and how it changed our world as we know it today. Never forget...

Punches plus the Cuttlebug gives you.....

endless possibilities! That's what the challenge is over at Pracitcal Scrapper this week-- we are using all those basic shape punches (like the shapes you learn in Kindergarten. Now, I don't have any of those basic shape punches (that's what I use my cricut for, but I did borrow one of my scrappy friends Creative Memories square punches. One thing I can say about CM is that their tools are FAB-u-lous!! That paper and cardstock punched so smoothly, perfectly which is always nice. Here's my LO:

Product List:
Used the 1 and 1/4 inch square punch to create the quilt
And used the 1 and 1/2 inch & 1 and 1 and 1/4 inch square to create the date embellie
Used CB folder Argyle and Harlequin on the blue and brown squares
All papers are DCWV
Inked with Studio g brown pigment ink
Brown and White Ribbon
Fiskars Threading Water Punch
MS Button punch( it my new addtion to punches so I was testing it out)
Oops...even pulled out the old sewing machine for this one

Make sure you stop in at PS and check out the rest of my design team sisters projects! There is some amazing punch inspiration there!

Practical Scrappers....It's Stampin Time!!

I'm gonna keep this one short, I'm sick and not really feeling like being at the computer right now. This week's challenge is to use those stamps; rubber, acrylic, foam, digi. I chose to use one of my free digi stamps from Dustin Pike ( Doodle Dragon Studios)that he does every Wednesday! I just LOVE his work!! I also used my new Inkadinkado "trick or treat" acrylic stamp that I got a few weeks ago. Other notes on this card: used my CB "Spider Web" embossing folder on the background and I just inked over it with my gold studio g pigment ink to add some shimmer.

I also, had another design for this week, but Chirstine is saving it for a feature since I also incorporated one of our sponsors, The Crafters Workshop, doodling templates into it! I can't wait to post it for you!

Have a great day all and thanks for stoping in!
