December Card Challenge At Just Scrappin

This is going to be a quick post...just finished this up a bit ago and wanted to post it. This is December's card sketch challenge on Just Scrappin. On top of using the sketch below you could not make a Christmas Card. I'm going to be using this for a girl's night out when one of my friends comes to visit.

here's the sketch

here's my take....

Scrappin my way into Tuesday!

It's the start of a new day and I started it off right with some scrappin. Just finished up a LO for a Challenge on Just Scrappin. It is December's Monthly Challenge. For this LO we had to use the theme "All I Want for Christmas" and do a layered look to it. So, here's my take on it.
The journaling reads: " If I could have anything I wanted for Christmas, all I would ask for is for you to be with us again...to see your 3 great-grandchildren and how much of a joy they are. Miss you Gram!"

Also, I forgot to post this one. This is December's Monthly Sketch Challenge. Pretty straight forward, not really anything diferent. from the sketch on this one. I guess I wasn't feeling inventive when I did this one ( I don't remember--LOL!).
here's the sketch....
and here's my take..........

Sorry for the bad pics ( using the old camera)

I still have a card challenge I am going to do as well!! Gotta get it finished! On a side note--just ordered the rest of Christmas present with the money my MIL gave me for Christmas. I ordered two new cricut carts! Yeah!! I can't wait to get them. I ordered Stretch Your Imagination and Paper Dolls. I guess I'll have to wait on The Storybook Cart, Home Accents, Disney Fairies, and Disney Cars, maybe I'll get lucky for my birthday! Have a Scrappy Day!

It Was A Merry Christmas!!

It was a very merry Christmas for all of us here. I pulled an all nighter Christmas Eve. I was finishing making gifts, wrapping presents, and getting things ready to have all of the family at the house that I never made it to bed until 7:17am Christmas morning. Guess what time the kids gots up? 7:27am, yep, a whole 10 minutes of sleep. I haven't pulled an all nighter like that since college, and boy, it isn't as easy as it use to be, LOL!! You know in all my craziness in trying to finish making gifts, I forgot to take pics of everything I made so I could post them. I could kick myself in the butt especially since I forgot to take pics the wedding word album I made for my sister, Angela. It turned out so beautiful --I am so proud of it! The next time I go to her house I'm gonna take my camera so I can take a pic of it and post it on here.

So, Santa was very good to everyone. Layton got his slot car track, Jaedon got his crane and cement mixer, and Delaney got her Cinderella talking kitchen. I got my cricut early for Chirstmas, but my mom surprised me and got me the Cuttlebug which I can't wait to bust open the box and play with it too ( of course, I gotta wait until the embossing folders I ordered with the gift card she gave me come this week). I've got lots of new toys to play with starting out the new year and I'm excited to get started! Hope everyone else had a wonderful as a Christmas as I did!!

Snow Peeps!

I got these patterns from a fellow scrapper-- thanks Bonnie :-)-- on Start a Scrapbook and they are just wonderful. They are a bit of a pain in the butt to cut out because of all the small pieces, but they are well worth the finished product. I made three of these for gifts for my kids' godmothers for Christmas. I also used this for my monthly contest at Just Scrappin. Our contest rule for this month were to use snowflakes and some sort of "bling"--do you think I have enough stickles on these for my bling? LOL!!
Haven't really done any "joy" scrapping, just been busy working on making ornaments and other gifts for Christmas. But, I will post all the pics after Christmas.
Oh, and here's a poem that a fellow scrappy friend posted- thanks A :-). I was laughing my butt off after reading it!! So stinkin cute!
Twas' the night before Christmas, I'm glued to the tree.
I'm wondering what Santa brought just for me.
Could it be cardstock or chipboard or lace?
Or a Cricut, I said with a smile on my face.
And that's when I hear him, "Hi Santa," I said.
"You know...good little girls should be in their beds."
"I know I should Santa, and now I've got caught,
But I was just so excited To see what you brought."
"Well, let's take a look in this room where you work.
He shook his head quickly, and left with a jerk.
I heard him exclaim as he put it in gear,
"You've got enough crap, I'll see you next year."

Need To Add Some Magic to Christmas Eve?

So for those of you who want to add a little "magic" and "believing" to Christmas Eve here's a little something that I started doing with my kids when Layton was in kindergarten. I got this idea from my mother, who got it from a friend, etc... So what is it you are asking? It's Reindeer Food!!

Here's the instructions to make Reindeer Food:

Plastic sandwich bag
1/4 cup of oatmeal ( quick oats don't buy the good stuff here's a time to use generic brands)
1/2 Tablespoon of glitter ( color of choice-- I do a different color every year or whatever I have on hand)
Dump oats and glitter into the bag, seal, shake and voila...Reindeer food !

Here a little poem that I type up and put a tag on the bag too!

Make a wish and close your eyes tight.
Then sprinkle on your lawn at night.
As Santa's reindeer fly and roam,
This food will guide them to your home.

Instructions for use:
1. Wait until Christmas Eve!
2. Open bag and sprinkle on lawn!
3. Hop into bed!
4. Shh...Listen for Santa and reindeer!
5. Close your eyes tight and watch sugar plums dance!

This is so much fun to watch the kids outside in their pj's dumping their baggies across the lawn. And if you live in a highly deer populated area like I do, your oatmeal will be gone in the morning, deer prints will be left in the snow ( if you have it), and the kids go crazy!!

Here's a pic of my baggy that I made...I'm giving these out for Jaedon's pre-school class tomorrow at his class party. This is something you could do for the kids in your family if you get together on Christmas Eve and have dinner and it's getting to be that time to head home, but the kids don't want too....you hand them this and watch how fast they will be in the car!

Sorry, about the bad pic, I'm using the old camera, but you get the idea!

Some Ornament Making!!

Dear Pinky on her blog posted these wonderful cute ornament. They are just the cutest dang things and so easy to make especially if you go to her blog and follow her instructions:

http://blueyecicle.blogspot.com/2008/12/tuesday.html

She has so many awesome great tips and shares all of her wonderful knowledge (she has some great RAK's every week, too!!)

So here are my ornaments......................

I did them a little bit different than what Pinky did. For the two on the outside I added an extra layer which really gave it some "pop" as I like to say. For those two I first started out with a 4 inch circle which I glued all my pieces too ( it kept sinking in when I went to glue the other layer on top). The bottom layer is 10 - 2 inch squares. The top layer is 10 1 1/2 inch squares. And, Like I said pop over to Pinky's blog for the full instructions with pics and all!! Have fun making these--I sure did!! Thanks again Cristal!!

Well, back to some presents making...I'm working on 3 snow peep frames for gifts!! I'll post pics when I'm done!

I don't have any pics with this post yet, but hopefully will have things to add later. Tonight we have short-noticed 1 hour layout contest at Just Scrappin! I so L-O-V-E doing these!! They are so much fun and exciting! The rush, craziness, and sorting through the 5 million ideas going through you head so quickly is just a blast. We got our hints:

12 x 12 LO
3 or even 2 Landscape pictures....maybe a sequence or matching style??
2 4X6 and 1 slightly smaller maybe one you can cut down a little OR all 3 cut down a little.

Can't wait to see the sketch!
(update as of 10:18pm est)

Here's the sketch ......................

And the drum roll please.......................................tah dah!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Also, tomorrow night heading out with the ladies to work on my Christmas cards--nothing like waiting until the last minute to get them done, huh? Especially when you are making them all by hand! Yep, I am crazy, but that's how it is when you love crafting!

Thanks for stopping in, and make sure you stop back to see what I come up with!

Holiday Fun

Here's that recipe as promised for the Cinnamon Dough Ornaments. These are super cute and fun for the kids!

2 Cups of Flour
1 Cup of Salt
5 Teaspoons of Cinnamon
3/4 to 1 Cup of Water

Combine dry ingredients in a bowl. Stir in water gradually to make dough ( Tip: if it sticks to your hand--add more flour, if it crumbles add water). Knead for 5 - 10 minutes until smooth. Refrigerate for 30 minutes. Roll out dough to desired thickness from 1/4 to 3/4 inches. ( Note: the thicker the dough the longer the ornaments will take to bake)

Use Cookie cutters to create your shapes. Use a straw to make a hole for your ribbon so you can hang your ornament.

Bake at 325 degrees for 45 minutes to 1 hour
Time will vary depending on thickness, bake until dry.

Let cool completely before you decorate. Paint with acrylic paints. Glue on fun eyes, buttons, ribbon, glitter, or any accessory you would like. Coat with acrylic varnish when everything is dry ( this is optional but it makes the paint nice and shiny)

These ornaments are absolutely great fun for the kids and smell great for along time. I made them 4 years ago with my oldest son Layton, and and they still smell. And when the smell starts to fade you can wet the back a bit with a damp cloth then take the hair dryer to it.

And here's another cute idea for you. I made these mini pies for a holiday bake sale for my son's school. We have a Holiday Sing- A- Long and charity drive for the Make-A-Wish Foundation which is a great cause. I made three different types of pies Apple, Pumpkin, and Lemon Meringue . I made my own crust, which is really the work of this project and rolling it to fit in these little pie pans ( pie pans are the mini pot pie pans you can buy in the grocery stores in a pack of 8) . And I just made a filling for each type ( there would be enough filling to fill 2 -9 inch pie pans or 10 mini pies). On the apple pies I just painted on them an apple with a mixture of an egg yolk and red food coloring--and a little green stem. The The pumkin and lemon ones I just made with some card stock a small pumpkin and lemon to put on the plastic wrap. I do have lids for the lemon pies that fit on the mini pie pans and I ordered those off line and got them real cheap for a pack of 50 from some kitchen store. ...I can't recall the name right now, but I will edit the post when I find it...Too finish making them all pretty, I just cut a strip of material and tied a cinnamon stick to the apple and pumpkins ones. Cute and fairly easy and they are hits at bake sales because some people don't like to buy a whole pie and they can be priced a little more reasonably then a whole pie would be!

So, there are my baking secrets for the week, now I need to get my scrapping one going again here! Thanks for stopping in and hope you enjoy!

Sick and Tired!!

Well, I have to adimit I've not done any scrapping in over a week...everyone, but Layton, has been sick in this house since Tuesday before Thanksgiving I, of course, am still not better. But, even though we were sick, we still had a very nice Thanksgiving. My dear mother put together a wonderful meal for 25 people, God love her! But, not only did she do that, she kept my kids over night at her house both Thanksgiving day and Friday. Cory and I went shopping, sick and all, on Friday morning and got all our shopping done for the kids! We got some some really great deals!! It feels great to have that done. Now, I need to finish making the gifts that I planned. I have a lot going on so, I'm gonna have to start pulling some late nights!

Oh, I know what else...we got our Christmas tree up and the kids are in their glory. Now I just need a couple more days to let Delaney's boo boo on her nose heal up so I can take their pic and get the Christmas cards made! I don't have any pics to post yet, but I'm going post a recipe of some cute cinnamon dough ornaments the kids and I made on Sunday. Super easy, and super cute! We just have to finish painting the ornaments--and they smell so great, too!!
Hope everyone has a Happy Tuesday!!
