What have I been scrappin?

Well, not too much but here's what I did get done. All of these are different challenges going on at one of my favorite places to play Pinky's Board--Just Scrappin'!! Cristal and all the gals & Stephan are fabulous!! It's always fun to play there. And even more wonderful is that Cristal and fellow Just Scrappin gal Cherrie both recently made the design team for Treasured Scrapping. Congrats to both of them and I cannot wait to see what they do!! But, now off to see what I've done!

First here is the monthly sketch challenge for Just Scrappin....

And here's my creation....pretty much just stickin to the sketch on this one with one small twist my big leaf is my journaling box!! All of my papers are from DCWV Fall Stack and DCWV Fall cardstock stack. What can I say I love DCWV papers!! Such a wonderful variety and the all mix and match so well!!
Next one here is the Monthly Contest. All we had to do was create any kind of circle layout. I used my threading water punch to go around the edge of the entire circle..it was a pain and I wasn't sure if I was even going to be able to make it work, but it did...so, when I get a chance I will post a little tutorial on here how I did it! I actually amazed myself!!

This one here was our November Challenge. Our Challenge was to create a sign. Now, most of the ladies on the board created their own scrap room sign and are very awesome. But me. I was thinking how can I get a Christmas present made with this...so this is actually going to be for boys school teachers. I am going to make two more for Jaedon's pre-school teachers. I thought these were the perfect little signs that they can hang in their classroom or at home..which ever they like!

And last here is the one hour sketch that I just completed tonight at Just Scrappin... I am so loving the 1 -hour LO contest--they are just too much fun and it's great to see everyone online together and how everyone's minds process the same sketch in 1 hour time!! So here's the sketch...

And here's my LO. It's not really a great pic, but that's the best I could do with only really doing it in 40 minutes because we were watching a movie with the kids and I had to hurry up and get them to bed!

Well thanks for checking in...hope everyone is ready to eat some turkey...just 4 more days!!

I Got Some Scrappy Time In!!

Yep, I squeaked it in... while everyone else is fast asleep right now I managed to get this LO done. Gotta roll with what ya get, right? This was a weekly sketch challenge on Creative Scrappers. This first picture is the sketch we had to follow/draw inspiration from...

And here is my interpretation of the sketch. The letters I cut out myself. I used left over cereal boxes to make them. Then I rubbed my olive green stampede ink pad and brown ink pad over my craft mat. I spritzed the ink with water and mixed it a little with a paint brush. Then I just dabbed the letters in the puddles here in there to try to make it look like mud splashing up. I followed it up with wiping the edges of the letters with my black ink pad. I also used the same technique for the cardstock strip behind the picture as well as the journaling circle.

Journaling reads " ~ Travel Soccer Team Fall 08~ Coach Hassan is always telling you to "win the ball". Well, in this picture you can see the determination to win it. You can also tell that your opponent took the brunt of your winning.

I think I should probably go to bed now-- the morning is already here and in a few hours the kids will be waking me up!! Hopefully they sleep in a little bit for me!

Friday is here!!

Well, it is Friday and I haven't really done too much scrappin this week!! Just a one hour LO contest at Just Scrappin and a Christmas card. I just can't get my groove on this week! It happens, right? Oh, and I did make my own sketch this week. But .....I haven't scanned it in so when I do I will post it! Now, on to what I did do!

This first picture is of the one hour layout contest at Just Scrappin. I can't find a picture of the sketch to post with it, but it's pretty much exactly like the sketch. I didn't deviate from it this time like I usually like to because the dear Delaney was not copperating and would not stay in her bed!

edited on 11-19-08...found the sketch and here it is!!

This next picture is of a Christmas card I made that is I used for two challenges on two different boards. For the first challenge at SAS dear Aymee wanted us to use a border punch for our card. Well, I didn't have a border punch that I liked so I just used my snowflake punch and made a border! The other challenge was for on Pinky's blog to just do a Christmas card! And here it is....

Hope everyone has a good weekend...I'm going to be trying to get things in order in my house so, no scrappy time for me, well, maybe a sneak in something when everyone is sleeping! LOL!

Back from the weekend!

So, the wedding is over, the book has been given. Now, I just hope she liked it! It was a very beautiful wedding and a great reception. Only wish I could have stayed longer to dance it up a bit more. But had to get home to the kids and pick them up from grandma's house. I haven't done too much scrappin since the wedding because I needed a break from the paper!! It wasn't calling too me--yep, I am crazy--I need a calling from the paper in order to scrap or some other kind of motivation like a contest! But here is what I did do....

Forgot to post this...this is the wedding card that I made to go with the album. And, I decked up the enveloped, too. The card was just a 8 X 8 sheet of card stock that I folded in half. The flower was a silk rose bud that I tore apart to just be left with petals and I added some stickles to it! The envelope was just a standard 4 1/2 x 9 1/4 security enveloped that I just added the card stock too, and printed their names on vellum. Added some burgundy ribbon going down the sides and made the nice pretty gold bow ( thanks to my mom for teaching me many years ago how to make bows when she worked in a flower shop). I forgot to take a pic of the back of the enveloped, but what I did was along the flap I cut a 2 inch strip pf burgundy cardstock, and I used my lace border punch on it to make it pretty!

Last thing here was the weekly sketch from last week on Creative Scrappers forum. They always have great sketches there! It's nothing fabulous I did but, it was another sketch that helped get another LO done from the zoo trip!

Here's the sketch...

Here's my take.....
Oh, one more thing, this just in, if you love sketches make sure you stop in to check this out! Don't know about the rest of you, but I'm always looking for new inspiration!

History in the Making!!

I must say I am very happy with the results of the election yesterday. I went out there, did my duty as a citizen, and my voice was heard. And even though, my dear husband disagrees with my view point, democrats and republicans can conquer together--we are living proof. I still love him even though he calls me a "bleeding heart liberal" and he still loves even though I believe in the power of change.

So on to my history in the making, the book/album is finally done and what else is there left to do--back to the "challenging boards". Both of these challenges are on SAS ( advice comment #1-- tackle one forum at a time when completing challenges or you end up posting the wrong challenge on the wrong board--LOL, yep I did--good thing for the edit button on posts).

This first one here is the card challenge my dear friend Aymee gave us for a Christmas Card Challenge. I don't have a lot of buttons, and I am not one for following a sketch to a "T" --always got to add my own little twist to it ya know. We had to not only follow the sketch, but had to use non-traditional colors. This new DCWV Christmas Stack had some perfect papers for choice, but this was my fave and it was also left over from some tags I was making for Pinky at JS. Using up the left overs before going on to the new! I like how it turned out, but I did drop the black ink pad in the top right hand corner! So what, it's still cute enough!

Challenge number two here was the weekly Sketch Cass posts on SAS. It's from the new November Page Maps. Gotta love the Page Maps.

So here's the sketch....

And here's my take on the sketch...again with little added twist- "bling"- These are pics from when we went to Splash Lagoon in June.

The journaling reads, " Everyone had so much fun on the water slides "making waves". It was Jaedon's and Delaney's first time going down the slides by themselves-- you would have thought they were pros!"

Have a good day all!! Only two more days and Friday will be here! Woo hoo...bring on the weekend!

What a Great Weekend!!

It started out with perfect evening for Trick-or-Treating!! We had a lot of fun and the kids looked great! Actually, I think I did, too! Cory and I decided at the lat minute that we were going to dress up while taking the kids around. My own mother-in-law didn't even recognize me. Pretty funny!! So, here's a pic of the family from Halloween night! Yes, that is crazy me as the 80's rocker chick! I decided I will never go blonde--not really my color! And my dear husband was master jedi knight Obi Wan Kenobi --he carried around his silly master replica light saber that he ordered off of QVC a few years ago. What a big kid he was with it!

Moving on, I spent the day on Saturday cropping with the ladies. Had a great time.
As always, Erin hosts a great crop! Hopefully she will make the next one a 12 hour one or an all-nighter! We played two games, "The game Formerly Known as BINGO" and we were all given straws and we could not say th word "page". If you did you had to give up your straw and whoever had the most would win a prize! I won the straw game and finally got the cool Creative Memories journaling templates that I wanted! Yeah me!! LOL!! So, here are some pics of the ladies cropping!

Cropping away the day!

Pose pretty ladies!!

Yep, I'm taking your picture--Smile!!

So what did I get done--well, I finished up making some tags for dear "Pinky" for her Fiskateers event coming up! And, I worked on the wedding album word book that I made for a gift for the wedding I'm going to this weekend. I did not finish it at the crop, but I did when I got home. So, here are some pics of the book!

And don't forget everyone to go out and vote today!! You can make the difference!!

Happy Halloween Is Going To Be More Like Merry Christmas!

What an interesting site to wake up--the ground covered in that white stuff! I am so not ready for it. Left my house to tak Jaedon to pre-school and we had about an inch to an inch and half on the ground but roads weren't covered...but on the way home from pre-school (approx 1 hour later) there was about 3 inches on the ground and roads were coved...talk about a complete white out!! I slid right through an intersection with my 4 wheel drive on and I was going 10 miles an hour. I just kept praying please don't let anyone come, please don't let anyone come! I made it home and this was the view!

So, Not really been doing too many LO's been into cards thanks to dear Aymee from SAS with her Christmas Card Challenge! They are fun and allow me to be creative quickly rather than putting so much thought into my LO. Sometimes I hate how much I think about the LO's! I keep putting more and more detail into them and it's driving me a bit mad! LOL! Anway here are two that I did this week! One was for a challenge on Just Scrappin' and the other was for a 1 hour LO contest on Creative Scrappers! Happy Looking!

This first LO was the October Challenge on Just Scrappin. We had to" make the paper work for you". Only use paper as embellishments. So here what I did was I used the leaf paper as background, cut out the edging of the leaves with my craft knife to make photo holders, and I inked them up. The monkey paper I just cut them out, and I popped them up with foam squares to give the look that youwere looking into the rain forest and peeling back the leaves to see the lemurs. I know deep for a zoo LO!! But, that was the vision and I'm sticking to it!

The next pic is from the 1 hour LO contest That I just finished tonight at Creative Scrappers. So, the first pic is of the sketch that we had to follow which was a fairly easy sketch to finish in 1 hour. The second pic was my creation based on the sketch. I took this pic of Delaney two weeks ago on October 14th. It was a beautiful fall day and we went for a walk down to Little Flipper Lake which is about a half a mile. The leaves were falling and she was just dancing and twirling around hile they were falling. I just happened to catch this shot and I absolutley love it!

So, as for what I used. The leaf paper and the base paper are both from DCWV Fall stack and I used some burgundy, gold, and orange card stock, red stickles on the leaves, and my red studio g ink pad. The journaling says, "What a fantastic fall day we had walking in the trees. How I loved the smile on your face while you were dancing with the leaves".

Say it Ain't Snow!!

Yep it was...Wednesday morning here what a sight to wake up to. Looks like the Farmer's Almanac was pretty darn right. They predicted snow the 21st of October, and heck they were only one day off. Maybe some of the weather people out there should pay better attention to the Farmer's Almanac--they wouldn't be so off if they did!! Well, As far as my scrappy world I haven't really done too much lately except for participate in a super fun mini crop on Just Scrappin. I loved the challenges Cristal gave us, and the 1 hour sketch was super fun, too. It would have been better had I not been interupted by my crying daughter3 different times who wanted mommy to come lay next to her on the floor. But, she finally settled down and mommy go to finish scrapping! So, take a look at the fun mini crop.....

This first picture was for the layout challenge. On our LO we had to somehow incorporate the use of cardboard. So, what I did here was took both the top and bottom layer off the cardboard to be left with only the rippled stuff in the middle. I cut it to length, the did the zig zag, added some of my expresso ink to the front and edges, and voila, my fence! This LO is was doing double duty for me...my son, Jaedon, had to take something that started with the letter "E" to pre-school on Wednesday and all mom has was an envelope, and that's way too boring for a 3 year old. So, I scrapped the pics of the elephants from the trip to the Pittsburgh Zoo in June. However, I think it may have been a bad thing because the teacher asked if she could keep it to hang up for the rest of the week! Hopefully she doesn't expect a different LO every week!!

The second pic here is the sketch for the Card Challenge. You had to create a card based on the sketch seen to the your left. I thought this was a great sketch, and the first thing that came to mind was, of course, snowflakes ( due to the weather conditions)! I thought it was a perfect sketch for a Christmas greeting card.
So, it was a very simple card and all I did was use some red card stock for the card. The blue paper with the red snowflakes is from the new DCWV Christmas stack ( which I must say rocks--many great interesting papers). And the "Season Greeting" is actually on that same sheet of paper. As for the Snowflakes, just some light blue textured DCWV card stock that I cut out the snowflakes from a pattern I traced by hand ( I'm old school, not fancy machines, yet). I just inked around the edges with my scarlet stampede ink pad ( I used a Q-tip because there are so many tiny areas to get into). The center snowflakes are from my Fiskars snowflake punch that I have (I just stamped over them). Oh, and the ribbon is from American Crafts (got it in the $1 bargain bin at my Joann's). I just love how it turned out, and my card won the card challenge from the mini crop! It was a random drawing, but hey, it still won!!

Now finally, to top off the mini crop was the 1 hour sketch contest. Now for those of you who have never tried this--you gotta do it some time! What crazy madness it is. Especially, when you don't get the hints before hand ( gotta remember to do that next time). So here is the sketch we were give and you had 1 hour to complete it then 15 minutes to upload to the gallery.

Now here's my creation,

It really was a blast, I was in such a rush that I started typing on the keyboard without washing my hand before and I had a blue keyboard--oops!! Got it all cleaned off though! Thanks for looking and hope you all have a great weekend! We are going to carve our pumpkins, make some chocolate covered apples, and go to the last soccer game of the season!! Yeah, no more traveling, and two extra days of not running during the week (well, at least until the end of March)!

Page Maps Blog Contest

This was a great challenge by most favorite place for sketches, Beckie Fleck and her Page Maps Blog. Her motivation behind this LO challenge was October being National Breast Cancer Awareness Month and we were supposed to scrap something meaningful to us like breast cancer awareness is meaningful to her ( her mom is an 8-year survivor of breast cancer because of early detection). That's awesome! I lost my grandmother to cancer ( Hodgkins Lymphoma) when I was a senior in high school. She died two weeks after I graduated. I remember that being her goal was to see at least one of her grandchildren graduate. She made to it to my graduation I am ever so thankful that she did! My heart goes out to all kinds of cancer patients and their families. Hopefully someday, a cure can be found! On to happier things, what is meaningful to me? Well, it is very simple-- holidays with my kids. I used to have to work every holiday when I was a restaurant/banquet manager for the Nittany Lion Inn, in State College, PA. Now that I am a stay-at-home mom, I don't miss them! So, here's the sketch and here's my take on it! Thanks for looking!

Journaling reads: " The holidays are sooo precious to me. As a mom who use to work every holiday, I never have to miss these smiling faces on Christmas morning again!"
