HOOT!! Owl-Shaped Baby Milestone Album

I can share this now that I am finally finished and the baby shower is over that it was the gift for.  I've become quite fond of creating baby milestone albums so this time I decided to take it one step further and make a shaped album.  Why an owl you ask?  Well, because the baby's room decor is all owl themed and what a perfect way to coordinate with it.

This album took a lot of planning an figuring out--more so than any other-- but at no fault other than my own.  I knew I what shape I wanted, I wanted the pages to be able to pull out to  make it easier to fill, and I wanted it to stand upright on it's own (not too tall of an order).

I found an owl body shaped pattern.  Then I used some poster board to design  the basic shape of the album cover.  This was a pure trial and error system and it's a good thing I had a lot of poster board.  I used an accordian system (thanks to the my dear scrappy friend and co-adminstrator Erin at Practical Scrappers when I trying to figure out how to bind it).

Here are some photos...

On every other month there is a little envelope like this on the back.  In each envelope there are little pull out tabs that have lines to journal on one side and a space for a photo on the other with different baby milestones that happen around that time...example first smile, my announcement, my prints, rolling over, first foods, I can stand, I can walk.

On all the other month that don't have an emvelope there is a journaling area like this on the back.

Here you can see what the pull out tabs look like in the envelope.
