Tea Bag Fold Challenge

This is my entry for the http://thecuttlebugspot.blogspot.com/ this week. I played hookey last week because I was grounded from the scrappy office until I got it clean. So, I finally got the spring cleaning done again and now I can play again.

The papers I used in my card are all heidi grace designs Regan's Closet Collection. I I just love the colors in this double sided cardstock, the brown, pink, aqua, and lime green. They are my favorite colors to scrap right now. So what did I do. I used my cricut to cut three scalloped circles ( Storybook cart) and embossed each circle in my bug with D'Vine Swirls. Then I folded each circle in half and then used the tea bag fold to create my little triangle. Next a little orgami, you have to open up the flaps you just folded over ( this creates 2 petals from each circle). Rpeat this 2 more times for the other 2 circles and form your flower. As for the other items I used; Fiskars threading water punch on the lime green paper with the flowers. I cut the center flower with my small flower die for my bug. As for the sentiment I used the Label 4 nestabilities that I cut embossed, and inked. Added some ribbon and acrlyics and was done!

Woo Hoo!!

Just wanted to share my good new with all of you! I just came from the http://thecuttlebugspot.blogspot.com and there saying the winner of the Easter Treat Challenge was my name. YEAH!!!!!!!!!!!! I am thrilled that I won! I get lucky every once in awhile in a random draw to be chosen for something, but never win something that's being picked!!! I cannot believe it! I won a $15 gift card from The Craft Barn and I think I already know what I am going to get--Nestibilities. I've been eyeing those babies up for a long time, and now I have a reason to spend the money. Now, I will have to spend a little extra but, I've been holding back waiting for the right time. Guess my time has come!!

Easter Basket Tutorials

After some good feedback from fellow scrappy friends asking for instructions, here a tutorial I made on how to create my Easter Baskets.

This is what you need for this project:

1 - 5" x 12" sheet of cardstock

11- 1" x 5" strips of cardstock

1 - 1.5" X 12 strip of cardstock

Ribbon, Threading water punch or your favorite border punch, sanding block, I used Swiss Dots CB embossing folder, and your strong adhesive

Cut 4- 1 inch strips in the 5 x 12 strip starting 1/2 inch in and leaving a 1/2 inch at the end so you don't cut all the way through end up with a wash board looking piece of paper.


Weave the 11- 1 x 5 inch strips in between the slots on the 5 x 12 sheetafter done weaving glue all the flaps that are on top down, then flip over and do other side. Set this piece aside to dry.

Take the 1.5 x 12 inch strip and use border punch on both side of the strip ( this will form the handle)!!

Now return to your dry, weaved, 5 x12 sheet and cut 1/4 inch from one of the edges. This is to give you a straight edge to create the rim of the basket. Use punch along entire length.

Now , emboss the 5 x12 sheet with your favorite CB folder. Just turn the EB folder sideways and repeat three times to do the entire length.

Use sanding block to expose the white core of the embossing on both strips.

overlap, I go in two scallops on the punch and line them up and adhere to create round shape.

Attach 4.25" circle to the bottom

Use ribbon on handle and base of basket.

Attach handle with strong adhesive-- I use Beacon's!!

Here's pic with added stamp image, I stamped with jet black StazOn onto water color paper. I used water color pencils to color in the the stamped image ( the image is a Studio g $1.00 stamp that I picked up at M's in their $1.00 bins).

The scalloped oval was cut on my cricut from the Storybook cart and then embossed with D'vine Swirls A2 embossing folder. I inked over the embossing with pink Studio g pigment ink. (

The image is just on some lime green cardstock and I gave it a 3-D look by attaching it with some foam squares

The Cuttlebugspot Challenge # 25 - Easter Basket

Wow, I have this challenge done already and I wasn't even planning to. It just so happens that last week I made three of these little baskets for my kids teachers so they can give them their Easter treats in. The basket is still empty because I haven't made the cookies yet. I always make sugar cookies on lollipop sticks stick some floral foam in the botton, and top with Easter grass-- I'll have to post a picture after I get the cookies done, too! But for now, this will work for the challenge.

Page Maps Blog Contest " What's On My Mind"

I haven't been posting too much on the blog lately as life has me running like crazy 2 days of soccer practice a week, 2 days of karate practice, travel soccer games, pre-school, and sick kids. But, somehow in between all that ( more like in the wee hours of the morning when I should be fast asleep), I did manage to get this contest done for the "What's On My Mind" theme over at the page maps blog. I really had a lot of fun doing this LO. I've already scrapped this picture twice before (one for Jaedon's and one for Delaney's album), but I needed one for the family album too because it's so hilarious and makes me laugh everytime I look at it. This is what happens when you give your kids markers while you are making dinner. All of the sudden things get very quiet and you know they are up to something. So, you peek around the corner and this is what you see.... ROTFLO!! I thought this "what's on my mind" theme was perfect for this senario. I am ever so curious to know just exactly what is going through those heads so for once I could be one step ahead. I want catscan of my children's brains so I know exactly how they are working, but I'm sure if we had them figured parenting would just be too easy.

Now, what did I use for this LO:

I just bought these papers a few weeks ago when I got to travel to a Michael's in State College, PA ( that's the closest M's to me in the little city of DuBois). All the paper's are from the We R Memory Keepers WHiTe Out Collection which really suited this pic well with all the orange crayola marker on their faces-- it really made that marker go "pop" to me!! I also used a transparency that I bought there too that is by Best Creation Inc. I used my orange Studio g pigment ink, and my timber brown StazOn ink to ink around the edges of all the papers. I also used some white ric rac ribbon, blue acrylic gems, my stapler ( I inked the staples with the timber brown StazOn), and I even pulled the sewing machine out to do some stitching around paper with the circles on it.

Journaling reads: {What's on my mind is "what's" going on in those two precious little heads? "Who" comes up with the ideas? "Where" do they come from? One thing is for sure, you always make things interesting!}

It's Been Awhile.....

I know I haven't been keeping up on the blog, gotta get better in April. I have actually been doing a lot of scrapping too and just not posting what I have been doing. So, I just got finished doing a 1 hour LO contest at Just Scrappin' and it was a lot of fun. This was the sketch we had to work with:

I went monochromatic for this one--something I've never done before and I really like how it turned out.

Now here's another LO for a Challenge going on over at JS too for the month long birthday bash we are having. The conditions for this challenge were:

1.) shaped paper

2.) scrap more than one photo

3.) scrap older photos ( no new ones within the past 2 years)

This was me in high school in my dance recital I believe to be my junior year ( maybe senior, whatever it was in high school you get the point). I cut everything from the Storybook cart on my cricut, the shaped frame, the ovals, and letter. Also, added some fringe to try and recreate the skirt of the costume for some added fun. And of course, you can't have a diva LO without "bling"...LOL!! One Hour LO Contest!

Last night we had a one hour LO contest at Just Scrappin and was it ever so much fun!! I love these things- they get you all pumped up and rushing around!! My office was trashed when I was done of course because I couldn't find the things I wanted that I knew I had, but it was well worth it! And I love the end result!

Weekend Crop!

I did get to crop all day on Saturday-- and even bought myself some Creative Memories goodies that I can't wait to use. I had a lot of fun-- I didn't et as much done as I wanted, but I guess that happens when you have a problem of talking too much...hehehe!! Here is what I did get done. 13 recipe cards for a recipe swap at Just Scrappin and a LO that used for 2 challenges going on at the month long crop at Just Scrappin.

Happy 1st Birthday Just Scrappin!!

It's JS 1st birthday this month and what a better way to celebrate than have a Birthday Crop Party. That's exactly what we are doin' there have a month long crop in celebration of this awesome event. There are lots of challenges already posted, a one- hour LO contest coming up on March 7th, and more challenges sure to be posted throughout. Stop on over and check them out.

Here's a peek at the challenge I'm hosting called .....Blow Out The Candles Challenge. The idea bedhind this challenge is what do you do before you blow out the candles? MAKE A WISH--that's right! The LO had to be based on a wish that you had come true or just a wish that you are still hoping for to come true, and you had to use my very own sketch.

Cuttlebug Be Inspired # 19

Well, silly me missed challenge # 18. Guess I was too occupied reading "Twilight" and "New Moon". And by the way, if you haven't you totally need to. I consider myself a pretty big scrappy addict, and when something can pull me away from that, well, it has to be good. LOL...ok off my Twilight saga, Our challenge at hand this week was emboss acetate. This was so much fun for me that I got carried away and made three different cards because I've never tried anything in my bug except paper--I just couldn't stop playing. So here is my favorite of the three I did. This picture doesn't do it justice but something is wrong with my Pentax K100D, I don't know what I did to it...DH is going to kill me...

So , I embossed the acetate flower frame using the Textile folder, and then I also embossed the center of the flower with Swiss Dots. You can't tell , but when you open the card the flower underneath says Spring has sprung, ( and it's on pop up dots). I inked the edges with some purple Studio g pigment ink. If I get a chance I'll post another picture of the inside of the card but here the front for now...

WOW...am I behind

I can't believe I forgot to post all my work from the Red Hot Crop at Just Scrappin'. So, I'll give ya a brief description of what challenge everything was for.

This 1st card for was for Karen B's Challenge Red Hot Card Challenge-- requirement were we had a sketch to follow as well as main color to be yellow ( and no pink), no Valentine Cards, and to use a quote no generic quote like HAppy Birthday, Thanks, Thinking of You...My quote is on the stamped flower and it says April Showers Always Brings May Flowers

This card was for Kelly's Puzzled Challenge...you had to use a puzzle piece on your card. I made my my own puzzle pieces... I traced some puzzle pieces on old cereal boxes. Then I traced a hear shaped over the traced pieces. I cut the heart out first, then I cut pieces apart where I wanted. I have to admit I had Janis on my media player when this idea popped into my head.

This was also another one of Kelly's challenges. It was a Becky Fleck Page Maps card sketch with a twist of you had to use the colors orange or purple in it.

This one here was my favorite from the weekend crop. This was dear Ziggy's challenge (she always comes up with a real thinker).

"Your challenge is to scrapbook a Book - Movie (or even a Movie to Book) that you saw and Loved or even Hated. For example I Loved the book The Eagle Has Landed by Jack Higgins but hated the movie. I loved Matilda by Rhold Dahl and the Movie was extremely close.

Coraline is about a girl who goes to another world where everything seems better but everyone has button eyes. The movie is completly handmade (and I mean completely! down to the nose hairs!) it is stop-motion animation and filmed in 3 D)

So here are the challenge requirements:

You must have journaling

at least 1 picture

You must have buttons

You must have dimension

something handmade "

I put a lot of time into this LO... first I printed off a cover of the book in B&W. Then I inked it up...playing with ink on photo paper is a lot of fun but you have to work quick because the ink dries up and you can't really blend it. My Title Some Pig was my handmade item...it's thread that I stickled. Also the spider wed is one of my Cuttlebug embossing folders. I really had a lot of fun with this one as you can see, and tried to put those extra touches on it!

This was Carol's " Shot Through The Heart" Challenge and no, it had nothing to do with the Bon Jovi song ( even though we were all singing it when we read the challenge-- Ziggy even posted a youtube video of the song--gotta love it). So, are challenge was we had to use arrows and wings on our LO. I took the easy way out with My Mind's Eye papers and punch put and used the cupid and the blue paper has arrows on it to. This is me and the DH when I was in my BFF's wedding. This LO also did double duty for me too because I used it as my monthly challenge at JS where we had to create a LO with no title and let the pics do the talking.

Here's another double duty LO. I combined Sandy's Scraplift Challenge and Michelle's Quote Challenge into one. For Sandy Challenge we had to pick one of three LO's of members on our board to scrap lift ( I picked Karen B to scraplift) and Michelle quote Challenge was to use the quote " Live well, laugh often, love much". I had this pic from New Years's Eve 2007 that I thought wouldn't it be cute to make the quote our family New Year's Resolution for 2008.

This was challenge by the ever-so-crafty Miss Aymee called "Feel Me Up" Challenge ( gotta love that title right. She gave us a sketch but the "feel" part of the challenge was we had to use fabric on our LO. My fabric is the red with circles in the top left and right next to the pic, also I used fiber to wrap around the pic. All the black waves around the border, and the swirls coming out from the material, I stamped on.

And this was a tag challenge that Ziggy hosted called "Orange Ya Glad" where we had a pagemaps tag sketch plus we had to use the color orange/lime green.

And finally, here was the challenge that I hosted for everyone.

Mini Valentine Book Challenge:

The challenge at hand, is to crop from your heart a special Valentine Book for that special someone in your life (DH, signifcant other, parent, child, whomever). Now for the conditions:

1. Your mini book must only be made from cardstock ( no chipboard, or photo mat board please)2. the album must be folded at least twice

3. You must use at least 2 photos in the book

4. Must use ribbon to tie it closed
