Designs for New Week!

Another week of new designs and challenges going on at Practical Scrappers andThe Cuttlebug Spot. First up, here is the weekend challenge that was given on Friday at Practical Scrappers. We had one of two choice to enter:

contest 1: use a doodling template to create your LO

contest 2: must have 3 summer photos and sticker letters

I opted for contest # 2 due to the fact that one thing I do not own is a doodling template ( maybe I can win one--right!).

This LO is of my son Jaedon, from our trip to Splash Lagoon last summer ( these pics were in the pack I found that I forgot to scrap from the trip--LOL)! I also decided to use up this stash of pool paper and die cuts that I've have for 2 years now--hehe, plus some white thickers that I seem to never have enough of!

Next, is my weekly design for Practical Scrappers. Our challenge this week is to use up those stickers ladies ( at least 3 on a page) and they cannot be alpha stickers. I did this double LO of my kids from winter--I was really hot when I did this LO and needed something to cool me down. So, I decided to pull out the snow pics. The kids were sledding down the hill in our front yard on a snow day ( we got like 9 inches of snow on this day).

Things used in this LO:

The giant snowflake and paper down the sides is by Reminisce. I cut the 4 3 inch snowflakes on my cricut using the Home Accents cart. The title "SNOW" were alpha stickers that I stickled with Blueberry Ice Stickles ( also stickled around the 4- 3 inch snowflakes on the sides with Mint Ice Stickles). And last, the snowflakes on the corners of my pics were stickers that I got in a stash of Chirstmas stuff from a swap on a forum.

Last, here is probably my favorite LO I've ever done to date. For this week's challenge at The Cuttlebug Spot we got a sketch challenge for ya!! Goodness, do I love sketches!! I like to scrap with a sketch, but I always change it up to make it my own. Sometimes I start with one and end up with something that looks nothing like the sketch, but it give me a place to draw inspiration from. And speaking of great inspiration, our sketch designer for this week's challenge has very much of that. Our very own design team member Miss Aymee Gandy did this fabulous sketch for us. And she has plenty more inspiration where that came from. Her blog is definitely one that you would love to follow. Workout Challenge # 1

Hi all, got my challenge here done for Kelly's new challenge blog Scrap Fit! Our first workout challenge was to scrap those H2O pics and use some ink! I had these pics of Layton that I forgot to scrap from our trip to Splash Lagoon in Erie, PA last summer. My pic I took is kind of dark and not sure if you can tell but he is jumping across some giant foam lilly pads that floating in the water hence where the title "Leap Frog" came from. I am also using this LO for a challenge on Treasured Scrapping that AbbieT is hosting. Her challenge to us was to scrap those old summer pics. Well, I needed to get these ones done since I already have the rest of this trip in the album!

It's Monday and it's a reveal of challenges....

At the Cuttlebug Spot the challenge this week is to emboss using your favorite embossing folder. Nilda sent all of us on the design team (courtesy of Provocraft) some of the newly released folders coming out. They are all fabulous , but of the ones that she sent me I chose the Morroccan Screen folder. This folder has a lot of potential to do so many things with it. I decided to spruce up a pillar candle for a wedding gift with it.




What I did was emboss a 3" x 12" strip of ivory card stock. I used the "negative" side of the embossed strip so that the impressions of go down in. I added a pearl into each impression. Added some lace around the bottom ( also added pearls in the center of the flowers on the lace) and added some ribbon on the top. The flower top was created with D'vine Swirls and Swiss Dots embossing folders. I made the flower from 18 2" ovals that I cut on my cricut them ran through D'vine Swirls folder. The center of the flower is a 2" circle that I stamped then ran through the Swiss Dots folder. I curled the edges up on the top two layers by just rolling them around the end of a thin paint brush. The bottom layer I curled under so cradle the candle and fit on like a topper.

Next project here is my reveal for Practical Scrappers. Our challenge this week to use up that stash of yours is to use eyelets in your project. I was trying really hard to use all my white eyelets up on this project and I have to say-- mission was accomplished! I was trying to recreate the front of a "MEAD" notebook. I even went as far as carving in with my scissors what kinds of things my son would doodle on his notebook. I've CRASHED!!!

That's my hard drived I'm talking about. Wednesday afternoon sent Nilda my design for the Cuttlebug Spot...turned the PC off...went back 4 hours later to check my email and I get a NO BOOT DEVICE and a black screen! I cried all night, Id just got done dumping all my pics from camera cards onto the PC and of course, I hadn't written them to disks yet. Dell just came this evening about 7pm EST and put in a new hard drive ( since it's still under warrenty-- not even 6 months old mind you) so I'm up and running, and hopefully will have email by the this time tomorrow. I'm going to try and recover the hard drive so I hopefully I can get all my pics back ( that's really the only things on there that are important to me). So, wish me luck and hope to be back in action full speed by Monday!

This Just In!!

OMG!! I just finished posting my creation for the week at The Cuttlebug Spot and I hopped back to check my email and you'll never believe the wonderful news I just got! I was chosen to be a design team member for a new challenge blog called Practical Scrappers. The whole idea behind this blog is to do the weekly challenges using your scrapbooking stash. Anyone who is a serious scrapbooker has one, just ask my darling husband. What started out as a one time Christmas gift with a cardboard box of supples has turned into my own office which, by the way, needs to be enlarged. This is going to be a lot of fun and sensible trying to find new ways to use up what we have! Cuttlebug Challenge #41

Another week has come and gone and so has another challenge. This week at The Cuttlebug Spot we are doing Christmas in July. For me personally I cannot not stop thinking about Christmas because I just got done booking flights to Disney World for 2 weeks over the holiday. I am so excited that we are going to be there for the holiday-- not only the to share the magic of Christmas with all of our family, but also the magic of Disney, too! Is there such thing of magic overload--LOL!!



Anyway, here the project for this week:




I used the Snowflakes embossing folder on some Creative Memories metallic (silver) paper. The pattern paper is from DCWV Ulitmate Christmas Stack ( 2008), some snowflake ribbon. Also, I cut the snowflake in the center on my cricut using the Accent Essentials cart on both the metallic paper and white cardstock. The stamped sentiment was a Studio g stamp that I stamped using my versa mark, then poured some silver embossing powdered on it and heat embossed.

Blog Hopping Fun!

This week at the Cuttlebug Spot we are blog hopping to see everyone's work. We are using any past technique ( i.e. inking, sanding) we've done on the board and featuring our work on our blogs. I don't know about you but I can't wait to visit the rest of the DT's blogs to see what everyone created (scroll to end of post for next blog hop)...

Here's my creation this week:

On this card I used the D'vine Swirls embossing folder (DCWV textured cardstock) on the background layer and I sanded the embossing with my sanding block. The stamped image is a Stampin' Up image. I borrowed a bunch a stamps from a friend awhile back and had stamped this cute little ballerina that I've been waiting to use. I colored her in with my water color pencils which I've finally gotten the hang of using different colors to create new shades/hues. I used my Nesties label 4 and cut it on my Cuttlebug and stamped the word "dance" ( from a Studio g pack I had) with my Studio g pigment ink. The image is popped up on foam squares to give it demension. I also used my cricut to cut the scalloped oval frame ( used my Creative Memories oval cutters to cut the center from it) and ran that through the CB D'vine Swirls folder and sanded it as well. I added some of the pink trim that reminded be of a ballet tutu, and added some Making Memories mini flowers to finish it off.

Two Page LO!!

I'm trying out for a guest design team spot over at Treasured Scrapbooking. We had to do a two page birthday spread. I've had these pics of Delaney's first birthday sitting around for 2 years now trying to figure out what I wanted to do with them. I finally got that extra little push I needed to get these done. Here's what I came up with:

The LO was inspired from a May page maps sketch. Of course, I changed it up a bit to fit my style and needs for pics. I love how it turned out even if I don't get the guest DT spot. Some things to note about the LO, the two princess crowns ( one on Delaney's head and the other under the title in the center) were stamped and heat embossed. I added bling to the crowns as well, the lettering in the title were cut on my cricut, and the white letters are Thickers at I found at my local Big Lots for $2.00 ( BARGAIN!!!). Oh, the two pics that are framed I inked my Swiss Dots CB folder with my studio g pink pigment and then ran it through the CB and embossed it. I love that faded look of the background takes by the actual embossing stays true to the color.

What's Inside Your Card -Cuttlebug Spot #39 and A Recipe Book

A new week, a new challenge...this week at The Cuttlebug Spot we want to see the inside of your cards. I decided to do a baby girl card. I have no purpose for it right now, but I had these scraps I wanted to use up.

Next here, is a recipe card book I made from recycled cereal boxes. I'm a huge fan of using recycled items when doing my scrapping, and there isn't a box that ever sees the garbage can in my house ( I have two milk crates full of boxes to cut up)! I've been thinking about this project for awhile now, and just finally sat down over the weekend to put it together -- I got tired of looking at the stack of recipe cards from the swaps I've been in. This album is 7" x 8". I also cut 8 1/2" x 11" page protectors to a 6 1/4" x 6 1/4" I cut the side with the opening first, then cut the bottom off. To reclose the bottom I just stapled along the the of the page protector. Not the prettiest, but I was afraid if I glued it then my cards would stick inside it and I wouldn't be able to take them out.

Cuttlebug Challenge # 38-- Something Funny!

I had this wonderful little card all planned out for this challenge, but then I remember these pics I took last weekend of my son Jaedon where he got covered in "silly string" by another little boy, and I just couldn't resist the idea that popped into my head for this one! That's the way creativity works, right-- you got with what comes to ya when ya have it!

What I used for this project:

All papers are from the DCWV Fun in the Sun Summer 2009 Stack ( and the Summer Cardstock Stack); Offray Ribbon 1/8" ( teal and lime green); Pressed Petal blue alphas; lime green embroidery floss; green wire; and eyelets; Studio G Teal ink; and D'Vine Swirls embossing folder.

Techniques used:

1.) I embossed the photo mats with D'Vine Swirls embossing folder on DCWV textured cardstock that has a white core. I sanded the embossed swirls to leave the white core of the paper to be exposed.

2.) Folded corner on the photo-- I created my just folding back the corner of the photo and covering the exposed back of the photo with whatever patterned paper I like.

3.) Title "String"-- was created by writing the word "string" in cursive with my Creative Memories fine ball point glue pen. Then I just followed the script with my embriodery floss laying it in the glue. Also, I did ink the edges of the word "silly" with my teal ink to give the letters a little more pop!

4.) Wire-- this was a lot of fun to use. I've never experimented with it before, so I had a lot of fun trying to see what I could do with it. I did string my letters through it by just punching a small hole in the chipboard letters. Then on the right side, and bottom of LO I tried to create my own "silly string" look with it by just bending and shaping it from eyelet to eyelet.
