70 Years and Going Strong!

June seems to be the month of weddings and wedding anniversaries and this week at The Cuttlebug Spot we are celebrating them with a wedding anniversary challenge. This came at a perfect timing for me asw my grandparents who are 94 and 93 are celebrating their 70th wedding anniversary on June 17th. We were supposed to be having a big party for them, but at their ages it's just too hard for them to get out of the house. I made 50 of these ornaments ( with the help of my mother--I designed and cut everything out, she helped with the assembly line process of putting them all together--THANKS MOMMA!!), they were going to be favors for everyone at the party, but instead we are just going to give them to my Nana and Grandpa to give to everyone when they come to the house instead to visit.

As for what I did, these are super simple ornaments to make. I cut the 6" scalloped oval on my cricut from the Storybook Cart. The base of the oranment is recycled cereal boxes which you can cut on the cricut without the deep cut blade ( pressure max, speed high, blade depth 6). Next, cut I cut my scalloped oval paper again, 6" on my cricut. I used my creative memories cutting system ( oval shape for a 3 1/2 by 5 photo) to cut the picture, and the photo mat. I embossed the photo mat and the backside of the the orament ( oval with typing) using French Script embossing folder. I added another small 2" oval on the front side that I also embossed with French Script then added some gold stickers for the "70 years". I added some pearl trim around the photo on the front side and typing on the backside to give it that little extra "pop" and a little white bow on small oval to top it off. Nice, elegant, and simple, and best of all cheap..... It cost us less than a $1.00 per person for a favor. I bought all the paper while it was on sale at my local Joann Fabrics last week when the paper was 6 for 96 cents, and some of it was on clearance for 10 cents per piece. The ribbon was 50 cents per spool and the peals were $1.00 each per container ( which I bought 6 of each, ribbon and peals, and only used 2 of each).

Thanks for stopping in and make sure you stop in at http://thecuttlebugspot.blogspot.com/ and give the challenge a try!
